If we lead a church and want to be christlike, then we should do as Jesus did and forgo any earthly materials and be as humble as you can be. I understand that suffering brings us closer to God and in Nigeria, they have discovered that niche in the market and typically, we have gone into overdrive by springing out mushroom type churches in every nook and crany. People equate going to church with loving God.I think God will definitely be a lot happier should we dedicate our time helping the poor, feeding the needy, supporting the widows and showing compassion for those less fortunate than us - i guess we will be rewarded 100 fold for that act of selflesseness. When you look at a place like the UK and the way the welfare system is structured; you can see it's based loosely on christian principles i.e the rich helping the poor as in the unemployed. I guess that's why there is growth as extreme poverty and suffering is almost non existence at least on the face of it.

I implore all christian nigerians to boycoot any new age church particularly the one's who have named ministries after themselves. They are so not God; how dare they?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2276340030335454113.post-71899098537721205452007-04-11T10:49:00.000-07:002007-04-11T10:49:00.000-07:00Well, my dear, that would make me judgemental as w...Well, my dear, that would make me judgemental as well, whatever that means, basically, I have principles and I stand by them. If that makes me judgemental, so be it.Your view on christianity is not judgemental, in my opinion, it is logical. If you say you are a born again christian and continously proclaim to be a devout Bible reader and what not, then yes, you are not supposed to have pre-marital sex. There is no discussion there, however, if you are a christian and are willing to admit that you do NOT follow all the rules in the Bible, that is another matter. As for me, people that claim to be devout christians and yet commit "sin" be it sex, corruption, whatever, how do i say this mildly,YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE! I strongly believe that you do not have to apologise for your views. As for the money, corruption thing, I am not even going to go there or else, I'll go mental just thinking about the stupidity of it all.Abortions, at what age? There are so many good stuff out there, contraceptives, condoms, "after morning" pills, spiral, etc. To get pregnant in the society today is just a damn shame!Yeah, and if you are in Nigeria and say you can not afford condoms, then sex might just be too expensive for you.

I never saw the bachelorette series, my computer closes down everytime I try to get on Uzo's blogg, some computer shit!Waffarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06039619178621668954noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2276340030335454113.post-22248379319263455342007-04-11T10:15:00.000-07:002007-04-11T10:15:00.000-07:00Long post. If i got pregnant at 15. I would have been scared shitless. we really don't know how we'll react in certain situations. All human beings are capable of EXTREME evil as well as EXTREME good. Dare I say it...I'm a born again Christian myself and didn't believe it was right to have premarital sex but I never judged my friends who did. I believe judgement is for God alone and the only person we should judge is ourselves. My husband is also born again and never had sex with anyone till he married me which I was very pleased with but I say to each his own. Only God knows how he will judge us. I dare say He will do a better and probably more lenient job than we human beings because unlike us He has the full perspective on everyones situation and is compassionate. When I see people do things I try not to judge because...we have all walked very different paths.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2276340030335454113.post-42737091934321208762007-04-05T18:16:00.000-07:002007-04-05T18:16:00.000-07:00i totally agree wiv you, makes so much sense, i, a...i totally agree wiv you, makes so much sense, i, as a person have chosen not to have sex, there are so many things getting pregnant for starters. i also don't beleive much in a holier than thou attitude shoving it in someoneelse's face. its your own body..
and the 15 year old mama..god help herfeefeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00980728231440442141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2276340030335454113.post-44767846712588972382007-04-05T07:29:00.000-07:002007-04-05T07:29:00.000-07:00Wow... long read, very thought provoking too.I thi...Wow... long read, very thought provoking too.

I think I have said this before on your blog - I am a christian, I believe in God but like a number of christians, I make a lot of mistakes. I am even ashamed to say sometimes I do unchristian like things knowing about them before I do them. Now, I don't shove the fact I believe in God into people's faces because there is still a lot of work to be done in my own life! A WHOLE LOT OF WORK!

As for the flashy cars and money money money that Pastors have...I don't like that. I remember when I first saw the Pastor of my new church drive this FLASHY car. I don't know much about cars but I knew this was a Ferrari or Porsche 4WD. I had to ask my friend where he got the money for that car from...

I, too, don't understand the money some pastors spend but I try not to judge anyone.

The sex before marriage thing... that one is a long long book from me o. I will not go into it. All I will say is that any christian who is a gossip or a liae or a thief or something of that sort has no right to judge anyone. Infact, no one has the right to judge anyone and some xtians make me sick... really sick. Now, i am trying to have a relationship with God and I really try to ignore what other people say and do me and God.

That girl who stabbed her baby is not normal... I am sorry to say when I read that, I thought she was evil... does that mean I judged her? Knowing that she obviously did something horrible like that to a stillborn...

Then like you, I have to work on not judging people...

As for abortions.... I pray I don't have to face that kinda decision because I believe it's until you've been in a situation that you'll know what you'll ACTUALLY do.

I am so sure I am going to read this later and have something else to say.LondonBukihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10677887052316159966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2276340030335454113.post-35829684100438374482007-04-05T07:09:00.000-07:002007-04-05T07:09:00.000-07:00LOL! So I understand the principle but for me personally, if I had a lot of money, I would help people in need instead of building a church. I am more about showing God's love than talking about it but I think you need both.

Anyways, I'm still writing my extra long comment and still thinking about a lot of the other issues!

Great post though, I've been thinking about these issues for hours now.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10589711420411521622noreply@blogger.com
